The Registered Respiratory Therapist is responsible for the administration of pharmacological, diagnostic, and therapeutic agents related to respiratory care procedures necessary to implement treatment, disease prevention, pulmonary rehabilitative, or diagnostic regimes prescribed by physicians. Duties include the transcription and implementation of the written or verbal orders of a physician pertaining to the practice of Respiratory Care, proper assessment, observation and monitoring of signs and symptoms, general behavior, and general physical response to Respiratory Care treatments and diagnostic testing. The Registered Respiratory Therapist will recommend and initiate appropriate respiratory care procedures and protocols based on observed abnormalities, implement changes in treatment pursuant to the written or verbal orders of a physician. The Registered Respiratory Therapist must have the ability to assess and initiate emergency procedures. Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care deliver to achieve desired outcomes. The Registered Respiratory Therapist is responsible for all general respiratory care duties including but not limited to administration of aerosol therapy, arterial blood draws and analysis, ECG's, pulmonary function screening, oxygen administration, and incentive spirometry. Intensive care experience must include arterial line management, ventilator maintenance and troubleshooting, intubation and extubation of patients.

C-AHA BLS Basic Cardiac
